Q1 What does Bunkie Wood Products do?
Bunkie Wood Products is a custom wood manufacturer based in Bunkie, Louisiana. We design and build wood pallets, crates, bins, industrial skids, and specialty wood packaging -- built to your exact specifications. We have been doing this for over 130 years, serving manufacturers, brokers, oil and gas operations, food producers, defense contractors, and agricultural businesses across Louisiana and beyond.
Q2 What industries do you serve?
We work with oil and gas, food and beverage, industrial manufacturing, agriculture, defense and government contractors, construction, bridge building, pile driving, large scale chemical operations, pipeline and pipe fabrication, and regional supply chain brokers. If your operation moves heavy, oversized, or high-value products and needs wood packaging built to spec, we can help.
Q3 Do you only serve Louisiana customers?
No, while we are rooted in Central Louisiana and proudly serve businesses across the Gulf Coast region, we ship nationally and produce export-ready packaging for international shipments. If you are located outside of Louisiana, we can quote your project and arrange delivery.
Q4 Do you work with brokers and third-party purchasing managers?
Yes, a significant portion of our business comes through brokers and supply chain managers sourcing solutions for their clients. We understand the importance of reliability, clear communication, and on-time delivery when your reputation is on the line. We work with brokers the same way we work with direct clients: with full transparency on specs, timelines, and pricing. We build every product with the end user in mind, not just the order in front of us.
Q5 What makes Bunkie Wood Products different from other pallet suppliers?
In addition to standard off-the-shelf pallet sizes, we also engineer fully custom solutions. We look at your actual load, the weight, dimensions, handling requirements, and shipping conditions, and design the right wood packaging from the ground up. Backed by 130 years of manufacturing knowledge and five generations of ownership, we solve problems that other suppliers cannot.
Q6 What types of pallets do you offer?
We manufacture custom hardwood and Southern Yellow Pine pallets, reconditioned GMA pallets, heat-treated ISPM 15 export pallets, and GSA military-spec pallets. From standard sizes to fully custom engineered builds, we design to your exact load and handling requirements. See the full range at bunkiewood.com/pallets.
Q7 What types of crates and bins do you build?
We build fully custom wooden crates, shipping boxes, sweet potato bins, and stackable agricultural containers. Available assembled or knock-down, in hardwood, pine, OSB, or combinations, with ISPM 15 heat treatment available for export. See the full range at bunkiewood.com/crates-and-bins.
Q8 What industrial wood products do you manufacture?
In addition to pallets and crates, we manufacture dragline mats, pile cushions, custom chocks, cradles, skids, flange protectors, wooden slip sheets, plugs, and stakes for oil and gas, pipeline, construction, and heavy industrial operations. See the full product list at bunkiewood.com/our-products.

Q9 I have a unique load or non-standard product, can you help me find the right solution?
That is exactly what we are here for. Many of our customers come to us knowing they have a problem — a heavy load, an odd-shaped product, a tight shipping requirement — but not knowing the solution. We ask the right questions, review your load specs, and recommend the best design. You do not need to know the terminology to get started.
Q10 What information do I need to provide to get a quote?
The more detail you can share, the more accurate your quote will be -- but we can work with whatever you have. Here is what we typically walk through together: Your product, quantity, and grade needed. Photos, sketches, drawings, or spec sheets if you have them -- we can work from any of these. How the product will be shipped and handled at your facility and your customer's facility. How weight and load is distributed across the face of the pallet. Moisture sensitivity and whether the product will be stored indoors or outdoors. Any compliance requirements like ISPM 15 for export. Your target delivery date. For complex or unique builds, we can schedule an on-site visit to make sure we get it right. Not sure where to start? Just call us at 318-346-7224 and we will walk you through it.
Q11 How does the custom design process work?
We start with a consultation to understand your load, handling, and shipping requirements. From there we develop design specifications and present multiple solutions so you can choose the best fit for your operation. We can provide a full load analysis and drawings to support each option. Once you have selected the right solution, we provide a formal quote. Upon approval, we move into production. For complex or unique builds, we can also produce a sample or prototype for your review before committing to full production.
Q12 Can you build a one-time custom order or do I need to commit to a large volume?
We work with both one-time project orders and ongoing high-volume programs. If you have a single custom build or a short run for a specific shipment, we can quote that. If you need a recurring supply, we offer inventory management and just-in-time delivery programs to keep your operation stocked.
Q13 Can you handle multiple product types across a single order or account?
Yes. Many of our clients need a combination of products and line items — pallets, crates, skids, dunnage, and specialty items — within the same project or on an ongoing basis. We function as a single source for your wood packaging needs so you are not managing multiple vendors.
Section 3
Q14 What is ISPM 15 and do your products meet that standard?
ISPM 15 is an international plant protection standard that requires wood packaging used in international trade to be heat treated to eliminate pests and pathogens. Without ISPM 15 compliance, your shipment can be rejected at customs. Bunkie Wood Products is ISPM 15 certified. Our heat-treated products carry the official HT stamp and documentation required for international shipping.
Q15 Do you produce GSA and military-spec pallets?
Yes. We manufacture pallets to GSA specifications including Mil Standard 15011, NN-P-71C, and American National Standard (ANSI). These are used by government contractors and defense supply chains requiring certified wood packaging. If you have a specific military or government spec and inspection requirements, share it with us and we will confirm whether we can fulfill it.
Q16 What wood species do you work with?
We work primarily with hard and medium density Hardwoods and Southern Yellow Pine, which are standard for heavy-duty industrial applications due to their strength and load-bearing performance. We also work with a variety of other species depending on the application.
Q17 What are your load capacity capabilities for custom pallets and skids?
Our custom pallets and skids are engineered to your exact load requirements. We design for static load and racking conditions depending on your use case. There is no standard upper limit, we build to spec. From light duty reconditioned pallets to extreme heavy duty bolted pallet frames supporting up to 30,000 lbs, share your load weight, dimensions, and handling method and we will engineer the right solution.
Q18 Do you make dragline mats, pile cushions, and other heavy industrial wood products?
Yes. In addition to pallets and crates, we manufacture laminated and dragline wood mats, plywood and timbered pile cushions, custom chocks, cradles, skids, plugs, wooden slip sheets, flange protectors, and stakes. These are used primarily in oil and gas, construction, and heavy industrial applications. See the full product list at bunkiewood.com/our-products.
Q19 Can you produce collapsible or reusable crate designs?
Yes. We offer fixed and collapsible retainer walls. We can engineer crate designs built for reuse or multi-trip applications depending on your requirements.
Section 1
Q 20 What is your typical lead time for a custom order?
Lead time depends on the complexity and volume of the order. Standard products are typically available within 7 business days. Custom builds generally run 2-3 weeks from approved design to delivery. For time-sensitive projects, contact us directly and we will do everything we can to meet your timeline.
Q 21 Do you offer inventory management or just-in-time delivery programs?
Yes. For clients with ongoing or high-volume needs, we offer flexible inventory and delivery solutions including stock management and just-in-time shipping. This means we manage your supply so you are not placing individual orders every time you need a restock.
Q22 How do I get a quote?
The easiest way is to call us at 318-346-7224 or send us an email to sales@bunkiewood.com. Share as much detail as you can about your project — dimensions, weight, quantity, timeline, and any compliance requirements — and we will get back to you with a quote. Not sure where to start? Just call. We will ask the right questions.
Q23 Where are you located and how far do you deliver?
We are located at 1156 SW Main St, Bunkie, Louisiana 71322 — in the heart of Central Louisiana. We serve customers across Louisiana, the Gulf Coast region, and nationally for the right project. Export-ready and ISPM 15 certified products can be prepared for international shipment.
